About Us
Our History
The Waconia Area Senior Center was established through the efforts of the Waconia Senior Center Task Force. The Task Force was created in February of 2016 by local senior community members who were passionate about starting a senior center to serve the Waconia Area. In the summer of 2016, Freshwater Church - Waconia Campus partnered with the Waconia Senior Center Task Force and graciously offered the use of their facility one day a week to start a senior center. The Waconia Area Senior Center officially opened its doors for the first time on Thursday, September 29, 2016. We would like to thank Freshwater Church for their generosity. In August 2019 the Waconia Area Senior Center moved to their new location in Waconia City Hall. Thank you to the Waconia City Council for providing the Senior Center a designated new space to meet and to the Waconia Lions Club for helping to cover the cost of some of the furniture. The Waconia Area Senior Center is currently open on Wednesdays and Thursdays from 10am-3pm in Waconia city Hall.
